LEGO Celebrates Keith Haring with Pride-Inspired Art Set

Ahead of Pride Month, LEGO has released a new building set that pays tribute to renowned gay artist Keith Haring. The set, which features his iconic dancing figures, is part of LEGO’s Art Line, which previously included buildable versions of famous works such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Hokusai’s The Great Wave.

Keith Haring died on February 16, 1990, at the age of 31 from complications related to AIDS. In his later work, he increasingly addressed political and social themes related to homosexuality. Haring was a unique and striking figure in 1980s New York and played a key role in the counterculture with his instantly recognizable style.

He became famous for his signature motifs: barking dogs, crawling babies, and flying saucers. He aimed to create “public art,” which he spread through his Pop Shop, the media, the subway, and urban public spaces. His inspirations included abstract expressionism, pop art, Japanese calligraphy, and New York graffiti artists. At the same time, his unique, spontaneous style was influenced by the energy of the era—space travel, hip-hop, and video games. A powerful body of work that remains strikingly relevant today.

The Dancing Figures set contains 1,773 bricks and forms five of Haring’s iconic dancing characters. The set is priced just under €120.
